About

Artistry by Rockelle

I've been where you are. Really. I've been a young bride. I've been an older bride and a proud mother of the bride. I've survived a house fire and lived with burns and temporary hair loss. I've assisted an adolescent family member in selecting wigs due to an ongoing ailment. Post-retirement, I've experienced hormonal changes that affected my skin and body. I consider my work a personal ministry. My goal is to unveil, preserve, and reaffirm the undeniable beauty that resides in you. My mission is to leave you better -- more well, more self-assured than you were when I met you. To do so, I rely on 45 years of experience as an esthetician, cosmetologist and makeup artist, utilizing a holistic, empathetic, and therapeutic approach to bringing out the best in you. MORE

45 years of

EXPERIENCE

Glad to be of service!

First things first. Yes, I’ve been in this business for 45 years. Does that mean I’m “out of touch” with current trends in makeup and skincare? Absolutely not.  The advantage of working with a LICENSED practitioner is that you’re dealing with someone who is constantly updating and obtaining training and credentials. And while we’re talking about trends and styles . . . everything is not for everybody.  Not everything we see on IG or YouTube is practical for every face or body. A seasoned professional can determine both the safety and suitability of various options for clients. Will it break you out? Cause an allergic reaction? Cause damage in the long-term? These are all things a professional considers.

Do you have what’s been unfortunately described by someone in the past as “problem” skin? I’m sorry someone told you that.  Your skin may be different, or challenging, but you and your skin and body are not a “problem.” Yes, some conditions are mysteries that need solving or ongoing challenges requiring maintenance, but my overall goal is wellness, which means I don’t speak negative things into existence. And I’m not talking about positivity for the sake of positivity. We don’t have to pretend not to be affected by our challenges and differences, but we can contribute to our mental health by being solutions-oriented and focusing on what we can do and what we do have control over in our wellness journeys. My goal is to be your “safe space.”

Bell’s Palsy, burns, scarring, hormonal skin and hair changes – life has happened to me, and I’m thankful for every bump in the road of my journey because it helps me to relate to my clients – many of whom have been with me for decades. Whether you’re dealing with acne, scars, melasma, hair loss or just plain garden-variety fatigue, I can relate.  I can’t always empathize, because I haven’t walked in your shoes, but I can absolutely sympathize, and dig into my knowledge base to strategize treatments, if not solutions to things you may be facing.

I know what you’re thinking. “Why so serious?!” You’re right! While I take your health seriously, I can also be there for your most joyful occasions, as well.  Your wedding, quinceañera, prom – you choose the moment, and I’ll have you camera — and memory —ready!  So whether you’re walking down the aisle or “ready for your close-up,” I’ll be somewhere in the background tending to the details.

Here’s the experience I’ll be falling back on.  It’s a pretty cushy pile of credentials, and I’m proud to say that I’ve earned every one, although I’m told that I don’t have the wrinkles to prove it.  I’ll tell you all about my holistic skin care regimen when you call . . .
